Surrey sits at the western end of the M25 for us, approximately an hour and three quarters from the yard. The stage belt along the Thames between Shepperton and Egham is the part of the county we are asked about most.
Our owner has worked craft on productions including Avengers, Spider-Man and Star Wars — and to be straight with you, that was somebody else's craft service rather than WoldCoffee's. The company is new; the experience behind it is not.
Getting there
travel and access
Surrey is reached anti-clockwise around the western side of the M25, and the traffic on that stretch is the variable we plan around.
- Route
- M40 south to junction 16 of the M25, then anti-clockwise past Heathrow towards the M3 and the A3. Approximately seventy-five miles, and around an hour and three quarters in normal traffic.
- Coverage
- Shepperton, Chertsey, Staines and Egham are the closest, at the north-western corner of the county. Woking, Guildford and the Surrey Hills are around two hours. The far south, towards the Sussex border, is an away job rather than a day return.
- Call times
- The western side of the M25 does not clear early. For an early call we would normally travel the night before and be in position ahead of the unit, and we agree that with you when the booking is made.

Surrey combines a dense stage belt in the north-west with heavy location work in the south, and the two need different things from a craft vehicle.
The Thames corridor between Shepperton and Egham is established stage ground and runs on the procedures that go with it: gate times, passes arranged in advance, vehicle dimensions supplied before arrival and a fire lane kept clear. South of the A3 the county becomes the Surrey Hills — heathland, woodland, sunken lanes and estate ground, where the questions are access width, overhead branches and whether the standing will hold a towed trailer in wet weather. The trailer carries its own water and runs from a 13A supply or a generator, so neither environment needs services laid on.

Is Surrey too far from you for an early call?
Not if it is planned for. The western side of the M25 is unpredictable in the morning, so for an early call we would travel the night before and be in position ahead of the unit. That is agreed when the booking is made, not on the day.
Can you cover a multi-day shoot in Surrey?
Yes. We take overnight and away work, so a run of shooting days is handled as one booking rather than as a series of returns. Send us the shooting dates and we will build them into a single quote.
