cookie policy

Every cookie this site can set, what it does and how long it lasts. Nothing beyond the strictly necessary is set until you say yes.

Last updated: 26 July 2026

This page lists every cookie this site can set, what each one is for and how long it lasts. It is written to the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

The short version

Nothing that is not strictly necessary is set until you agree to it. When you first arrive, no analytics cookies exist. If you choose Accept analytics, we set Google Analytics cookies. If you choose Reject, we do not, and we remember that choice so you are not asked again. Either way you can change your mind from the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

There is no cookie wall here. Rejecting analytics does not restrict any part of the site.

Strictly necessary

These do not need consent, because the site cannot record your cookie choice without one.

Analytics — only with your consent

Set by Google Analytics 4 after you accept analytics cookies, so we can see which pages are used and where the site is failing people. We have not enabled Google Signals, advertising features or data sharing with other Google products, and Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.

Until consent is given, Google Consent Mode v2 runs with analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization all set to denied, and the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all.

What we do not use

No advertising or retargeting cookies. No social media pixels. No session recording, heatmaps or scroll tracking. No third-party consent management platform — the banner on this site is our own code, which is why there is no vendor list running to hundreds of entries.

Changing or withdrawing consent

  • On this site — open Cookie settings in the footer, untick analytics and save, or press Reject. Withdrawing consent stops collection immediately in the page you are on and deletes the Google Analytics cookies already set — you do not need to reload anything.
  • In your browser — you can delete cookies or block them entirely in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookie means we cannot remember your choice, so the banner will appear again each visit.

Blocking or deleting the consent cookie itself does no harm — we will simply ask again, and until you answer, analytics stays off.

More about the data itself

What happens to the information these cookies collect, how long we keep it and who processes it is set out in the privacy policy.
